Next Week! Thursday, November 14 Dinner Program:
Health Disparities & the Opioid Crisis - What you need to know

Turn on the television, pick up a newspaper or browse online and you will undoubtedly come across a story about the national opioid crisis. The CDC has estimated that more than 130 people die of an opioid overdose every day.  This is a serious concern for public health; one that impacts all of us.

Furthermore, here in Chicago, life expectancy for West Side residents is up to 16 years less than those living in the Loop just seven CTA train stops away. West Side United is a collaborative of hospitals, community organizations, government and residents aimed at improving health and economic vitality in 10 West Side neighborhoods. This work seeks to impact the 550,000 residents living on the West Side and to reduce the life expectancy gap by 50% by 2030.

The Giving Back Exchange invites you to join us as we welcome guest speakers Cara Brock and Darlene Hightower.

Together they will discuss the history of West Side United, initiatives, goals and stakeholders, while addressing some of the facts and myths surrounding the opioid crisis.  This presentation will ensure you are armed with the most accurate information in order to advocate for changes that will make a real impact in our community.

CFE Regular Member: No Charge
CFE Non-Resident & Retired Members: $100
Guest: $150 when accompanied by a CFE member

Showcase Your Industry Expertise at a CFE Lunch & Learn

Are you an expert in your industry? Is your industry in the news regarding a  new product or regulation, growth or decline, or positive or negative headlines? Would you like to showcase your knowledge at a CFE Lunch and Learn?

We are looking for individuals that want to spearhead a discussion over lunch on the current state of their industry, their experiences and the lessons they have learned. Lunch and Learns typically run from 12-1pm in a smaller group setting (10-15 individuals) at the speaker’s office conference room. The format can be brown bag style (attendees bring their own lunch) or the speaker may choose to provide. CFE can assist with finding office space if none is available by the speaker. This is not a forum to pitch your company’s products to other CFE members, however a natural part of the conversation will highlight your talent and expertise.

Interested? Please contact: CFE President, Joan Rockey jrockey@castleark.com
